-Patient Testimonial-12/2024:

"In 2008 on a family trip with our friends to the Big Island in Hawaii, we ventured on a structured 4-weehler tour of the long-ago Park Ranch and the 250,000 surrounding acres of cattle grazing with the majestic backdrop of Mauna Kea and centuries old lava fields covered in grass and farm land. In the middle of the tour miles and miles from conventional roads, I took a too sharp a turn, at a speed that caused my four-wheeler to ride up on two wheels then launch itself into the air with me being the landing zone for the handlebars and the fuel tank.

My collar bone shattered in 5 places and 7 ribs broken and dislocated, shoulder separated and hip and right leg no longer connected properly. After a very bumpy multi mile ride prone in a Yamaha 4-wheeler pickup, the tour group leaders reached the parking lot and managed to get me into a car and off to Waimea Valley hospital for 5 days in ICU and 30 additional days in the hospital with words of "unlikely to properly walk again".

45 days later arriving in anchorage after an emergency flight of body fluids swelling to the point of breathing difficulties, 19 weeks of PT followed with the final portion slowly learning to walk again under water on a submerged treadmill.

The results of a fractured spine, right leg numb from the knee to the hop and neuropathy in both feet that felt like I was always walking on nails and the skin itching until rubbed raw, and sciatic pain in the legs.

After 15 years of trying every means of PT and exercise, dozens of specialty doctors, maybe a hundred different tests and every medication known, back surgery, feet surgery, cortisone and other secret sauce mixtures injected too many times in so many places to count from my neck down to my toes, with the level of pain never dipping below 5-6-7 on the 10 scale for more than a few weeks.

My pain threshold changed that I no longer needed Novocain for a filling or filling replacement. Having gone to so many different pain doctors, chiropractors, acupuncture, Rolfing, structural integration, stretching, swimming, and anything else that was available in the United Sates, I was now at 67, getting sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was recommended to a local doctor, Dr. Luke Liu, who ran a group of more than 40 support staff at a place called Neuroversion.

This last August with his group, I began with a program of getting off all the medications and focusing on various non-steriod injections of resetting the nerves that act as the pain receptors to the brain. Bilateral ganglion blocks, Stellate ganglion blocks and a few others, my pain had gone down in this time from the 7-8 level that it was in August to 2.5-3 in November (4 months and less than 50 appointments). The most exciting part was in late November early December when he asked me if I would like to try a new technology, he was pioneering here in Anchorage called "Scrambler Therapy." I thought at first it was going to be just another tens type program that gave only relief while it was connected, bu NO, it was amazing. I have not for over 15 years been able to bend over and touch my toes, feel my right thigh that was not like radiating like hitting your funny bone, or not being able to sleep at night because my feet hurt so bad, and electric bolts flashing down them causing me to bolt up in bed. It is working and not just when I am there but at home, going out to dinner, the movies with my grandson and so much more. I am getting my life back that I had almost given up on. I cannot imagine it being permanent, but if I only have to go in for tune ups every couple of months, I will not complain, I will sing the song Halleluiah and continually thank him for his tireless work he does for so many 6 sometimes 7 days a week, helping us who truly need his help.
